Tenancy 101 Session Empowers Residents at Union Mission Ministries in Norfolk

Norfolk, VA — March 2026 — The Hampton Roads REALTORS® Foundation (HRRF), the charitable arm of the Hampton Roads REALTORS® Association (HRRA), recently delivered a Tenancy 101 educational session to residents at Union Mission Ministries’ men’s shelter in Norfolk, continuing the Foundation’s commitment to providing accessible housing education throughout the community.

The session was hosted at the invitation of Jason Banks and marked the Foundation’s third visit to Union Mission Ministries, as well as the first visit for 2026 Foundation Chairwoman Gladys Fain. Residents were highly engaged throughout the presentation, asking thoughtful and insightful q

uestions that demonstrated a strong interest in understanding their housing options and responsibilities.

The Tenancy 101 discussion covered a range of practical topics designed to support housing stability and long-term success, including first-time homebuying guidance, strategies for improving credit, best practices for maintaining positive landlord relationships, and an overview of tenant rights under the Virginia Residential Landlord and Tenant Act. As conversations evolved, additional resources were shared to address residents’ specific questions and circumstances.

To further support continued learning and empowerment beyond the session, follow-up resources were provided to residents, reinforcing the Foundation’s goal of equipping individuals with tools they can apply well into the future.
