HRRA Hosts Annual Fair Housing Month Art Show Event Featuring Local Student Art

Chesapeake, VA – The Hampton Roads REALTORS® Association (HRRA) hosted its annual Fair Housing Art Show, bringing together community members, real estate professionals, educators, and students for an evening celebrating creativity, education, and housing equality.
The event featured artwork from students at Landstown High School, inspired by the theme “Community Connections and Equality.” Through their work, students highlighted the importance of inclusion, equal opportunity, and the impact of fair housing in our communities.
The program included remarks from Gladys Fain, HRRA President-Elect, along with an educational presentation from Becky Claggett, 2025 HRRA Fair Housing Award Recipient and instructor, who spoke on fair housing practices and overcoming barriers. Meagan Starks, Director of Hampton Roads Programs with the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities, shared insights on the role of inclusion in community development. Shevika Hannah, 2026 HRRA Board Member and Fair Housing Committee Chair, provided fair housing resources and closing remarks.
Guests also participated in an interactive “Brushing Up on Equality” paint-by-numbers
activity, contributing to a collaborative artwork symbolizing unity and shared responsibility in advancing fair housing.
The highlight of the evening was the announcement of the art show winners:
1st Place: Marley Racines for her piece titled “Oceanic Polarity”
2nd Place: Spencer Nelson for his artwork “Bottom of My Heart”
3rd Place: Serenity Lynch for her creation “Hyacinth”
