Tenancy Education Initiative Strengthens Hampton Roads REALTORS® Foundation and ForKids Partnership

Chesapeake, VA — Spring 2026 — The Hampton Roads REALTORS® Foundation (HRRF), the charitable arm of the Hampton Roads REALTORS® Association (HRRA), is proud to continue its partnership with ForKids, a leading nonprofit dedicated to ending family homelessness in the region. As part of its commitment to following through on initiatives launched in 2025, HRRF Board President Gladys Fain recently delivered a Tenancy 101 educational session to residents of the ForKids shelter, equipping participants with essential knowledge to navigate the rental process.

The Tenancy Education session, hosted at the Landmark Center in Chesapeake, provided practical guidance on topics such as how to contact and maintain open and honest communication with a property manager, what landlords look for in a tenant, how to handle prior evictions, and how to complete a strong rental application. The class was designed to empower ForKids participants with the tools and confidence needed to secure and maintain stable housing.

Fain, a property manager with BHHS RW Towne, brings real-world industry experience to the program, offering participants firsthand insight into the expectations and responsibilities of tenancy.

This initiative reflects HRRF’s ongoing commitment to community development and housing stability and demonstrates continued progress on education and outreach efforts introduced in 2025. By carrying the Tenancy Education program into 2026, the Foundation reinforces its long-term partnership with ForKids and its shared mission of helping families transition from homelessness to stable, sustainable housing.
