Habitat SHR’s Women Build Weeks
Norfolk, VA — In mid-July, the Hampton Roads REALTORS® Foundation (HRRF) proudly joined Habitat for Humanity of South Hampton Roads (Habitat SHR) for a day of service during the 2025 Women Build Weeks. Despite unexpected weather, HRRF volunteers showed up with energy and enthusiasm to help build homes for two hardworking, women-led families.
“We are so grateful to have HRRF as a partner in today’s Women Build,” said Megan Savali, Executive Director of Habitat SHR. “Your sponsorship and volunteer participation represent more than just support for construction; it’s a powerful investment in two women-led families working toward strength, stability, and self-reliance through homeownership. Even with today’s unexpected weather, your commitment shines through.”
The homes under construction will provide safe, affordable housing for two local mothers who have overcome significant challenges and are working toward a better future for their families. Their stories are a testament to resilience, determination, and the life-changing impact of community support.
Habitat SHR builds and renovates energy-efficient homes, which are sold to partner families through affordable, no-profit mortgages. Each family contributes a minimum of 200 hours of sweat equity and completes 12 homeownership classes as part of their journey.
This initiative is powered by volunteers—85% of each home is built by community members. HRRF is honored to be part of this mission and remains committed to supporting affordable housing and community empowerment across Hampton Roads.
