Tenancy Education Initiative Strengthens Hampton Roads REALTORS® Foundation and ForKids Partnership
Chesapeake, VA — May 2025 — The Hampton Roads REALTORS® Foundation (HRRF), the charitable arm of the Hampton Roads REALTORS® Association (HRRA), is proud to announce the continuation of its impactful partnership with ForKids, a leading nonprofit dedicated to ending family homelessness in the region. This spring, HRRF Board President Phil Kazmierczak delivered two Tenancy 101 classes to residents of the ForKids women and children's shelter, equipping participants with essential knowledge to navigate the rental housing process.
The Tenancy Education sessions, hosted at the Landmark Center in Chesapeake, offered practical guidance on topics such as how to contact a property manager, what landlords look for in a tenant, how to evaluate a rental property, and how to complete a strong rental application. The classes were designed to empower ForKids participants with the tools and confidence needed to secure and maintain stable housing.
“ForKids is grateful to the Hampton Roads REALTORS® Foundation (HRRF) and Phil Kazmierczak for providing two excellent Tenancy Education classes to our participants this Spring,” said Erin Adams, Housing Specialist at ForKids. “ForKids participants, as well as our staff, gained valuable insight into the entire tenancy process from start to finish. We look forward to strengthening our partnership with Phil and HRRA so that together, we can help our families navigate the path to stable housing.”
This initiative builds on HRRF’s broader commitment to community development and housing stability. Earlier this year, the Foundation awarded a $10,000 grant to ForKids to support its permanent supportive housing program, which assists families with disabilities in transitioning from homelessness to long-term stability.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to be able to partner with ForKids for community sustainment and development,” said Phil Kazmierczak, 2025 President of the Hampton Roads REALTORS® Foundation. “They do great things in the community, and we are proud to be a partner.”
